Blogger Recognition Award
“Don’t work for recognition, but do work worthy of recognition.”
H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
A long while back I came across a blog of someone who had received a ‘blogger recognition award’. It is an award that is given to bloggers by their peers in recognition of their efforts to their blog and the blogging community as a whole. I remember thinking, wow, that is really neat – I would love to earn one of those. I had no idea that, only a few months into my blogging journey, I would actually be among those who received one.
Blogging is all about community. It is about working with those around you – both bloggers and non-bloggers alike – to make your community better. This is achieved by writing within certain niches and finding like-minded people to interact with. You need both communities of people in order to become successful within your blogging journey.
I have definitely learned in this small amount of time, that bloggers are communities of people who support one another, who help to build you and your site up, and who are always there to lend a hand or a comment of support. It is a community of connection that I had no idea I was missing and wishing for.
A Heartfelt Thank You
An enormous thank you goes out to Cindy who writes Journey With Healthy Me, for extending me this honor. As bloggers, we greatly hope to be noticed and to make a difference, and when you feel as though you have, it validates what it is that you do.
Journey With Healthy Me has so many incredible elements within their blog, and they show their readers how to best feed and take care of their bodies. Topics such as, important foods and herbs to implement, living a plant based lifestyle, and how to heal your body so that you can live your best life, are fully covered. You should absolutely do yourself a favor and check out the awe-inspiring information!
Cindy also has a second site called Cindy Goes Beyond and an incredibly active Facebook page that you can find here.
Thank you so much for this honor, Cindy. The knowledge you depart, your honesty, and your support, does not go unnoticed.
The Brief Story of How My Blog Began
So, I have written bits of this story before, but I have wanted to become a blogger for years! I used to speak about it often, and to people who seemed to have more faith in me than I had faith in myself. At the time, the only topic that I could think of that was of interest, was to blog about books. I was already writing book reviews on all things that I finished reading, so why not shuffle those reviews over to a blog? However, as much as I love books (and still write reviews for them) that idea just never seemed to take off.
It wasn’t until I started thinking about all of the little things that I was changing in my life, to slowly bring contentment to myself, that my blog was truly born.
The idea of Health and Happiness, and all of the elements of life that you can control to make it better and worth living, grew, and thus, so did my blog.
I have incredibly large dreams for this platform and it is truly just the beginning. However, what I have learned so far is that anything is within my reach and all of my dreams are possible.
Advice for New Bloggers
My blog is still in its infancy, and maybe that is what gives me the ability to offer up two pieces of current and quality-filled advice.
The first is, find and use supports and resources. You do not need to reinvent the wheel. In fact, if you try and reinvent the wheel, it is going to take you so long that you may never get your blog off the ground. Instead, find a blogging community that was initiated by people that have already mastered the art. Attach yourself to those people and grow with them and because of them.
There are so many companies and blogging communities out there that you should be looking for something that fits and feels right for YOU, but in case you want to know about the community I found, I will list it here:
I have been following the support of Heather and Pete Reese from It’s a Lovely Life, and they have a myriad of blogging courses to help you get started. I started with their 5-Day Crash Course (which is free) and then moved on to their Blogging 2.0 course (which is not free). If you click on the blogging courses link above, all of the courses and supports that they offer are listed on that page, and I can tell you that it has all been a life saver in so many ways.
My second piece of advice might be the most important, and that is to leave no room for doubt. Stop worrying about whether you can “make it” in this field, or whether you will find an audience, or whether you have what it takes. I will take the element of surprise away from you – the answer is a resounding YES to all of those points. Instead of thinking that you won’t be “lucky enough” or “smart enough” or have “reach enough” to turn into a success story, spend your time making your success story.
Believe it or not, I have thought all of those things at some point in time, but I know that all of those things are untrue – you know why? Because I am willing (AND EXCITED!) to put in the work. And since I am willing to put in the work for my blog, I know that my blog is willing to put in the work for me.
My Nominations for the Blogger Recognition Award
I did not take this requirement lightly, so I would highly recommend that you check out the following blogs that were nominated by All Things in Good Health:
Angela with The Short Order Cook, who has the best recipes, but also writes about so much more than what she is cooking (like the best nonfiction texts about food).
Anitra with Chronicles of a Momtessorian, who is a Montessori educator, and someone who also departs incredible information surrounding parenting and integral products (such as oils) that make life easier.
Heather with Life at My Own Pace, who also won a Mystery Blogger Award about a year ago! Heather writes all about her travel excursions and successes within fitness and nutrition.
Carrie with The Nourished Human, who is a Certified Holistic Health Coach and has the greatest wellness blog, that touches upon all elements of whole wellness.
Lisa with Planning Away, who is a travel blogger and who educates her readers about her travels and travel resources.
Rules for the Blogger Recognition Award
For people to know what this award entails, a few rules need to be posted along with this honor:
- A thank you needs to be issued to the blogger who nominated you, and you need to provide a link to his or her blog.
- A post needs to be created to announce/show your award.
- A brief story needs to be given about how your blog began.
- Two pieces of advice need to be offered up to new bloggers.
- Up to 15 bloggers need to be selected to pass the award on to.
- Links need to be added to each nominated blog.
That list doesn’t sound too hard!
Again, a huge thank you to Cindy from Journey With Healthy Me, for this award, and make sure that you check out Cindy’s blog, along with the other top notch blogs listed above. You won’t be disappointed with the information that you find!
